Reports say IMF says the US financial system might need further $76 billion in capital.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the US financial system is slowly "recovering" but remains exposed to crisis and might need more stimulus spending.
This comes as US President Barack Obama has clashed with Republicans over the need for government intervention to help the ailing economy.
Republicans say that ineffective stimulus spending will increase US debt and puts Americans' futures at risk.
The IMF also said the US unemployment rate will likely remain over nine percent in 2011.
